In order to make space for the second pilot, this version lacks the pulse Doppler radar system found in the single-seat version. A positive thrust-to-weight ratio results in easy vertical takeoffs, and powerful dual Klimov RD-33 turbofan engines deliver an impressive top speed of Mach 2.3.
