Description
At the beginning of the war the German sailors ship number was well below the standard of the enemy fleets, but despite this they didtheir best to relieve the pressure on their comrades on land. The simplest way to achieve this was, by means of a substantial increase in the submarine fleet, to wage a tonnage war on all the merchant ships making for England or other allied countries. By the end of the war almost all the large warships had been sunk or lay damaged in the harbours. Of the 1,154 submarines built, 751 were sunk at sea.

The figures have been modelled to suit submarine type VIIC (item-no. 05015) and speedboat S-100 (item-no. 05051), but they would also be suitable for any other German ship of the period in scale 1/72.
