The Duke of York, one of the five King George V battle ships, was launched on 28.02.1940 and completed on 2.11.1941. Her first mission was to take Prime Minister Churchill to the USA. The ship was used in European waters throughout the war, mostly as a protection vessel for the convoys bound for Murmansk.
