Who makes the models that are on the box tops?

The models you see on a model box are most often a prototype piece, meaning it may be the first or one of the first models of that item ever made. Many times these are made from what are known as "test shots", which are the first kits to be run through the mold to see if there are any major problems that need to be corrected before the model are put into production. These are usually put together by master modelers who work for the company long before the kit becomes available.
